Essential oils have been used in aromatherapy for hundreds of years. Either inhaled or diluted and rubbed on the skin, essential oils are absorbed and beneficially interact with your body in a number of ways. Olbas oil is a combination of multiple essential oils and enjoys the benefits of them all.
Olbas oil originated over 100 years ago in Switzerland and is still used worldwide today. It’s a combination of peppermint, eucalyptus, cajeput, wintergreen, juniper berry, and clove essential oils. These essential oils have been used in aromatherapy since the ancient Egyptians and Chinese.
Originally I learned about Olbas oil from Nevine Michaan, owner and founder of Katonah Yoga who I mentioned in a previous post. Nevine absolutely loves it and always recommends it.
Since then, I have always used Olbas oil whenever one of my sons got sick. Diffusing Olbas into the air prevents the spread of bacteria so I wouldn’t need to worry about my other two sons getting sick as well.
Olbas oil has a wide range of uses and other benefits, aside from being antibacterial. With its strong smell, Olbas strengthens your sense of smell by opening up your nasal passages and soothing your bronchial areas. Additionally, it makes for a great salve or massage oil, especially when combined with castor oil, as it stimulates circulation by opening up the pores of your skin.
With autumn and cold season being right around the corner, consider making Olbas oil a part of your home, as I have. Between feeling better over all and enjoying your home smelling incredible, you’ll be glad you did.
